I hope I haven't made anything too confusing and offputting. There are some small clues for the careful observer, and one little misdirection.

Everybody else is either in boots or barefoot... except the sandals.

The sandal clad feet are either not the right number of toes, or wearing some type of split sock.

The socks look like Tabi, a traditional Japanese sock often worn with sandals, or by themselves for greater stealth and balance.

it's Ninja! the ninja is going to jump in and kick those legionnaires asses, then save the two against the wall....that or he/she is going to stop the execution and save them. better hurry the sergeant is about to order "present arms" then it's just a few more commands and it's all over...course looking at the quality of the troops, they might all miss.
Pez Wolf 20th Aug 2016, 9:25 PM edit delete reply
Present Arms is a command to hold the weapon vertically, traditionally in salute. You're thinking "Ready, aim, fire".

The firing squad is the human version of the hijackers.

The commander has a pronounced brow and a scar on his lip in place of a fang, the long nosed white haired guy is the bird, the younger looking guy is the frog.

Is this the dream, or is space the dream?
Pez Wolf 22nd Aug 2016, 4:06 AM edit delete reply
"Clever Girl". It all makes sense now. This would reasonable be a dream of Sam's, and he might subconciouly perceive everyone on his vessel as human. This notion further leads to the shorter woman being Hazel Birch.

IF that is the case, then there is going to have to be a deus ex machina to survive the odds stacked against them in this dream scenario, i.e. blind folded, arms bound, at a distance, unarmed, and against a numerically superior enemy. Unless... the story goes with the cliché *wakes up in a cold sweat* "It was only a dream" bit.

I'm rereading this comic. it's just that good. and on this page I've noticed something I haven't noticed before. the Vichy legionnaire troops are carrying LeBel rifles. Nice touch. and historically accurate.
